Software engineer.

I have a B.S. in Software Engineering. I design software before coding it, document it as it grows, and test it against how people actually use it. I work in Rust, Python, TypeScript and C#, and I build with Claude Code.

fman-rs

Rust · Slint · Win32 · current project

A Rust rewrite of the fman dual-pane file manager. Opening a 90,000-file folder takes about 0.13 s and 94 MB, against 19.7 s and 438 MB in the original fman, measured on the same machine.

Built from a spec with measured acceptance targets, a tested small-file fast path (copy, move and delete over 100x faster than the original), and native Windows fallbacks for everything else.

Exploratory

  • Redguard port (Rust + Bevy): research and data work toward a from-scratch port of a 1998 game, run from the player's own copy. So far it renders all 27 maps; there is no gameplay simulation yet.
  • Nehrim port (Rust + Bevy): an earlier attempt at the same idea, now paused. It produced the lessons that changed how I scope projects.

Earlier open-source work (2019–2023)

  • japReader: creator of an Electron app for reading Japanese games with real-time lookup. 112 GitHub stars; now maintained by someone else.
  • wiktionary-to-yomitan (formerly kaikki-to-yomitan; 203 stars): wrote the original dictionary-conversion scripts from yomichan-es that it grew out of, then contributed Russian support and nested-definition handling. Since rewritten in Rust by another developer.
  • Yomichan language forks (German, French, Russian, Spanish, Serbo-Croatian): ~96 stars combined.
